Thoughts on the Present Situation
Musings on the present situation… coronavirus has caught the whole world’s attention. Physically we’re not really safe anywhere around people. The question is were we really ever safe, or do we live in a false sense of security much of time? Colossians chapter one, verses 16 and 17, talking about the creator, God of the universe, says: For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities, all things were created through Him and for Him. And he is before all things, AND IN HIM ALL THINGS HOLD TOGETHER.’’
We really are at his mercy – thankfully he is a loving, merciful and sovereign God, who wants the best for us, individually and for the whole world, and cares for each and every one of us deeply and personally.
During this time of pain, crisis and uncertainty, I am reminded of what is so important, that we so often take for granted – faith, family, friends and community. The human spirit is amazing and creative. We see so many coming together in solidarity, worldwide, to strengthen and encourage one another to thank God for social media etc.
Many times we complain of being too busy, rushed, stressed, even of our colleagues, family etc. Well, think many of us, during this time of isolation, are appreciating, more and more, our loved ones, who we are normally around, our work which gives us fulfilment, a little peace and quiet etc.
Interestingly, pollution levels are coming down, animals that normally don’t come out are… maybe the earth needs a break – also a Biblical principle. God commanded the land to rest ‘Every X amount of years’.
I think God wants us to slow down and think about where our souls are. He is always available to us if we want to talk to Him, our only hope.
