After we started working with children in Hyderabad in 1996, we were considering a name for our organization. Around that time one our young girls (Tirumala) told us that while she had been praying she saw a picture in her mind of a Bible with some stars around it. We were reminded of the verse, Daniel 12:3, “And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.” Out of this, the name, Shining Stars, was born!
